How American Real PM Co-Founder Scotty Mitchell Is Giving Back

If there’s anything that 2020 taught us, it’s to cherish the people we care about, be compassionate towards others, and recognize the importance of community and supporting those in need. This is something our co-founder Scotty Mitchell took to heart. In fact, he took the COVID-19 lockdown as an opportunity to give back. Since salons were closed, he decided to grow his hair out during quarantine so he could eventually donate it.

Scotty chose to donate his hair to Children With Hair Loss. The organization provides children and young adults suffering from medical-related hair loss with a new, real-hair wig every year until they’re 21 – that’s a lot of wigs! Children With Hair Loss’ mission and goal is to never charge a family at a time when they need the most help, and to this day they have never charged a child. Currently, the incredible foundation provides a customized human hair replacement and care kit to over 600 children every year.

Scotty finally grew his hair long enough to donate, and he recently cut it at the North DFW Real Producers Magazine release party on April 29th. However, Scotty didn’t stop there. In his research to find an organization, Scotty found that human hair wigs typically cost about $5,000. Because of this, he thought, “instead of just donating my hair, I could reach out to my community and maybe we could raise $5,000 and help more than one kid at the same time.”

In an effort to support multiple children through Children With Hair Loss, Scotty has started a GoFundMe Fundraiser. Anyone is welcomed and encouraged to donate to this cause.
